Little Ones Childcare
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I book a place at one of the Little Ones nurseries?
All parents need to complete a registration form to book a place at nursery. This must be returned to nursery with the registration fee of £40, no place can be booked without this fee being received at nursery.
What do I send with my child?
We ask that parents bring suitable clothing to nursery each day…we do spend a lot of time outside and children will often need welly boots, rain coats or sun hats in order for them to get the most from our outdoor areas! Please ensure your child has a full set of spare clothes with them each day…clearly named please! Babies will need to bring cartons of ready made formula milk and enough bottles with them for the day.
How do I increase or decrease days?
We do ask for 1 months notice if you decide to decrease days. A simple note to your nursery manager will be fine. If you want to increase your days please speak to your nursery manager who will be able to tell you which days we have free. Often you can increase days straight away.
What if my child is sick?
Please ring nursery as soon as possible if your child is sick and will not be attending. We do need to be aware in order to inform other parents if needed. If your child has been sick or has had diarrhoea they will need to be kept off nursery for at least 48 hours. This is advice given to us from the Health Protection Agency. Unfortunately we are unable to refund any fees for any days missed due to sickness.
How do I pay my nursery fees?
You will receive an invoice on or before the 1st of each month via email. Fees must be paid by the 7th of each month or a late payment fee may be charged. Fees can be paid direct into our bank account, via Childcare vouchers or by using Tax Free Childcare.
Can nursery staff give my child medication?
Nursery staff can only administer medication which has been prescribed by a doctor. You will be asked to complete a daily medication form which must be signed every day your child needs the medicine. Please speak to your nursery manager if you have any concerns regarding medication your child needs. If your child has a complex medical need we will ask you to complete a care plan which must be signed by your doctor or health visitor.
What if I need an extra day?
We do have some days in nursery which are quieter than others and we are more than happy for parents to book extra days as and when needed. We will do our best to fit your child in!! Extra days can be booked through your nursery manager. We do ask that you pay for extra days on the day.
What do I do if I have a concern/complaint to make?
At first we would ask for you to speak to your nursery manager, if you are still not happy please contact Katie Porter (managing director) direct on 01392 469909 or katie@littleoneschildcare.co.uk
How do I know who will be looking after my child?
Every child at Little Ones will have a key person who will be introduced to you during your settling in sessions. The key person’s role is to really get to know both your child and your family. They will be the ‘first point of contact’ for you if you have any questions or concerns regarding your child. All Little Ones staff will be in uniform every day, we do have 4 nurseries and staff do move around the nurseries to cover for sickness or holidays. Each nursery has an up to date photo board with staff details but please ask if you are unsure at any time.
How can I get more involved with the nursery?
Little Ones is your nursery and we encourage parents to be as involved as possible. We hold parents morning/evenings and events throughout the year and as parents, you are always welcome to spend time in nursery. We often ask parents to help with certain topics we are doing such as people who help us etc and love to have visitors in nursery.
It’s my child’s birthday, can I make a cake for him to bring in to share with his friends?
Of course you are welcome to bring in a cake for your child’s birthday, all we ask is that you provide us with a list of ingredients for all home made cakes to ensure we can check for allergies.
What if my child has an accident whist at nursery?
All children have accidents and whilst we do work hard to ensure your children are safe, they will have bumps and bruises whilst playing. When this happens we will ask you to sign an accident form when collecting your child to say that you have been told about the accident. For more serious accidents we will, of course contact you at the time.
What if my child has a bump before coming into nursery?
Please inform nursery staff if your child has had an accident before coming to nursery. We will ask you to complete an injuries out of nursery form.
